European Resource Bank Meeting 2009

European Resource Bank Meeting 2009

To promote individual rights, free market and limited government is, broadly defined, the daily business of our institutes and think tanks. We do it because we believe in the dignity of human beings and because we are convinced that to promote free markets and limited government is the surest way-indeed, the unique way-to bring about peace and prosperity for all. But do we do it well? Are we spending our money-and the money of our supporters-efficiently ? Can we improve the productivity of our time and efforts? Can we increase the chances of reaching our goals?

The European Resource Bank addresses those issues and more. To be efficient in our business, to win the battle for ideas, we need to share experiences, to learn from each other, and to increase the sum of our resources. During three days in August, overlooking the historic harbor of Marseille, participants from all over Europe and nearby regions will add resources to the bank by sharing the techniques and the strategies which have proven to be effective. And every participant can draw on - and put to good work - the sum of resources made available. I hope you will be there to share your successes, and to profit from the experiences of others.

The first Resource Bank was organized in Europe just six years ago in Bulgaria. It has since toured the capitals of Europe: Vilnius in 2005, Vienna in 2006, Bucharest in 2007 and, last year, Tbilisi. Each time it has been sponsored by a local European think tank.

This year the Institute for Economic Studies-Europe (IES) is honored to host the sixth European Resource Bank in Marseille, France between August 20 (evening) and August 22 (evening).

Together with the historical partners of the ERB meetings (*) and thanks to the generous support of the Smith Family Foundation, we are preparing for you a program around the general theme: How to communicate in times of crisis? Lessons from our 2008/2009 experience

How to communicate in times of crisis? Lessons

from our 2008/2009 experience

During an intense two days we will explore such topics as:

  • Cutting public spending
  • Creating our own low-budget videos
  • Becoming your own broadcasters - a step-by-step guide to podcasting
  • Improving your internet outreach and marketing
  • Creating and implementing an effective business plan
  • Mobilizing popular support through petitions
  • Working with schools and universities to educate the new generations in the values of freedom
  • Polishing your presentation skills for radio and television
  • Publishing the books, the articles, and the studies that change the climate of opinion
  • Shifting public opinion - Case studies

Beyond the workshops, training, and sessions is the networking: you'll make friends and find partners for your work from al over Europe and beyond.. Marseille, the sunny harbor of South of France, opens to North Africa and the Middle East and representatives from think tanks in those countries will be present. The values we fight for have no frontier. And the friendships and partnerships you create at the European Resource Bank will transcend nationality, language, religion, and geography.

Join us for the Sixth ERB. Share your successes with those who share your values. Improve your skills. And forge friendships and partnerships on the shores of the Mediterranean
